License to Wed movie review
I don’t really like watching movies starring bubble gum pop singers such as Mandy Moore, Brit Spears, Hillary Duff, etc. But for my wife, I guess I cannot help it. Besides, it has Robin Williams in it so I thought it might not be that bad or too chicky-flicky for me.
Anyway, on to the plot:
Ben (John Krasinski) and Sadie (Mandy Moore) decided to get married but in order for Rev. Frank (Williams) to approve their marriage, they must first pass his pre-marital course. That’s the whole plot right there stretched into different challenges for the couple to overcome. This includes Sadie’s best friend (ala Owen Wilson in Meet the Parents), robot twins, and the reverend trying to bring out the worst in them.
So how was their performance?
Only notable comment I have is that John Krasinski looks bored delivering his lines. Its as if he’s not being challenged with his role and I can’t blame him. I feel sorry for Robin Williams being pushed into a movie not worthy of his skills. Mandy Moore is ok, nothing special.
Verdict:
It’s a so-so romantic comedy film that you should just wait for in HBO. Only people that I can recommend this movie is to those who are planning to get married and wanting to immerse themselves in all movies with wedding themes. Bo-ring. 2 out of 5 stars.
